This project began with the site planning of the school’s new container building (Growthpoint Structures®) campus expansion. The buildings were arranged to create a variety of outdoor spaces in-between the new classrooms. To avoid an “institutional” straight line classroom layout, we staggered the container buildings to provide visual interest along the building front. Raised planters divide the classroom corridors to simplify circulation, add greenery and provide seating. The planting palette that flows throughout the landscape maintains continuity within the site. The palette is anchored by harmonious colors that are combined with varying textures and plant forms to add tasteful contrast. The planting design connects each space seamlessly and subtly accentuates major gathering spaces, entry ways and focal points.
